I haven't picked one up in quite some time, but a decade ago this was a zine that had a lot of influence on me. Any fans? I prefered the mini-novels and shortstories to potpourri style 'everything in a zine'. Is it still going and good?

Re: Cometbus!
Sat, September 10, 2005 - 5:02 PMI read a fair amount of his zines but I'm not an expert...I recently picked up a book containing many of his old writings. The title escapes me at the moment because I loaned it out but if you see it I'd say pick it up..I don't know if it's still going..Cometbus also inspired me to start writing down my own inane musings...good stuff -

Fri, September 23, 2005 - 8:58 AMyeah, cometbus was a favorite of mine too. it was nice to read a punk zine that wasn't totally focused on bands and shit...cometbus features interested characters and good stories.

Re: Cometbus!
Wed, November 2, 2005 - 2:18 PM"despite everything: a cometbus omnibus" compiles most of the stuff into one really big book. probably where you'd wanna start if you're interested.
"double duce" is a reprint of his zine about a punk house he used to live in, plus some bonus stuff. it's real real good, and only like $10.
"chicago stories" and "mixed reviews" i haven't picked up yet.
go to noidearecords.com or lookoutrecords.com to track it all down, plus a few of his later zines that aren't in despite everything for like a buck fifty.
hope that helps...

Re: Cometbus!
Thu, July 13, 2006 - 6:41 PMThis is a longshot, as I can't imagine the mail he's gotten over the years, but ask him if he can recall a character calling himself Stovepipe Pat, whom his writing inspired to move into his failng bokstore in Athens, GA back in the mid 90's- OR don't, as I guess folkhero's are entiled to their anonymity and such....
